We thought that there was some kind of fire, and then decided that the landscapers were burning brush (which makes no sense). But it turns out that they were fumigating for insects. I have figured out two reasons now why insects are not allowed: one, they have something like a cicada or palmetto bug or giant cockroach which makes an extremely loud noise much like a car alarm or siren by rubbing its wings together or something. Reason two: there is dengue fever in the north part of the city, so you really don't want to get mosquito bites around here. New England summertime mosquito nonchalance is not safe....
