Yesterday Franz, his student Lynn, and the kids obliged me and we went back to East Coast Park to watch the Singapore in-port racing part of the Volvo Ocean Race. I wish I had brought binoculars, but it was still exciting to see them going SO FAST on a nice windy day; jibing back and forth on the downwind legs they overtake and pass each other like race cars, and one slow jibe can be the end of the day. Puma won the first race by miles but the fleet was much tighter in the second one. I took loads of pictures but of course they are all terrible; this is the best one. One of the Ericsson boats is in the lead and you can recognize Puma by the red spinnaker.
