Sunday was hot and windless but the waves were HUGE in Five Islands, courtesy of Hurricane Bill which was passing by a few hundred miles offshore. As always my pictures don't do it justice, but Sylvie suggested making a movie. So, here are a couple of very short (soundless) videos of the waves: #1 and #2

Choate homestead, 1725-1740. This is a gorgeous house in a stunning setting overlooking the Great Marsh, looking SE towards Essex and Gloucester

1778 barn on Long Island, Crane Wildlife Refuge. It's not Grand Canyon, but Long Island/Choate Island is a pretty great day trip in the canoe...http://www.thetrustees.org/pages/295_crane_wildlife_refuge.cfm

I made it home....

Getting ready to sail the Tasar for the first time in many years. Franz bought it from Chris Scholin in the late 80's and it was about 15 years old at the time. It's still in great shape though - my parents kept everything stored clean and dry and it's a fun, fast boat!
